Age is merely a number; this is especially true for the world’s oldest yoga teacher. At 96 years old Tai Porchon-Lynch is as full of life and positive as a 15-year-old, she is full of wisdom, and you would do well to look at her.

At 96 years old she is winning dance competitions, attending and holding wine tastings, and working on issues of inner peace and spirituality. If someone who had lived a full 96-year long life approached you with wise words wouldn’t you accept them with the vitality and grace in which they were given? She has given us all some words of wisdom that will help you live a long positive life just like she has!

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Be inspired by yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch’s indomitable spirit, philosophy of Oneness, and incredible life, from marching with Mahatma Gandhi to modeling for Coco Chanel. Walking on stage with her signature high heels and easing into a full raised Lotus position, Tao makes us all believe “There is nothing you cannot do!”

Millions across the globe have been inspired by 95-year-old Tao Porchon-Lynch: World World II activist, model, film star, wine connoisseur, ballroom dancer, and one of the oldest yoga teachers in the world. She started dancing competitively in her 80s and has received almost 600 first place awards. The spark in her eyes and child-like smile immediately capture you, yet her lean frame belies the strength in her body, mind and spirit.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations) – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTmaTD5H0iM&x-yt-cl=85114404&x-yt-ts=1422579428

  1. Start the Day off Right

“When I get up in the morning, I don’t think about all the things that are going to happen, whether it’s good or bad. I say to myself, ‘This is going to be the best day of my life. ”

  1. Don’t put anything off you are capable of more than you think!

“There’s nothing you can’t do, and you can just get up and enjoy life and see how wonderful it is. There’s so much to do, so little time to do it.”

  1. Make your life Positive

Whatever you put in your mind materializes. So if you put negative thoughts, you draw toward you negative things. So be positive. Just look for good.”

  1. Stop thinking only of Age!

“I don’t believe in age. When people ask me about age, I tell them to look at all the trees around them. They’re hundreds of years old. They may look as if they’re dying at the moment, but they’re not; they’re recycling themselves. And in a couple of months, they’re going to be reborn again.”
