Small businesses share holiday optimism

Small businesses are more optimistic this holiday season, according a survey from American Express, and many of them plan to pass the success onto their employees.

The survey found 47 percent of small businesses surveyed expect strong holiday sales this year, up from 30 percent last year.

Forty-two percent of owners say they plan to give their staff year-end bonuses, up from 27 percent last year. And 44 percent will throw a holiday party, up from 32 percent last year.
